A Good R-sma Antenna?

Hey.

I have a linksys WAG354 router at home, and it has an integrated antenna and an R-SMA antenna connection.
The problem is that the speed and range quality sucks.
Here is a sketch of the current situation:

As you can clearly see, the router (WAG354) sends the signal to every direction. it results in a short range and speed.

This is what i want to have:

By using an antenna that only send in one direction i think i can improve the range and speed alot.

Does anyone know a good antenna for this with an R-SMA connector?

Thanks in advance.
Regards,

Why not just get a compatible unit to function as a repeater to your WAG? Put that in the basement. Normally AP to AP communication is better than AP to Client Communication.

I know linksys has a repeater, but i heard the quality sucks ass. almost no improvement.
Do you know a AP that support my router, and is strong enough?

Most of Linksys' AP's will function in a repeater mode to another piece of Linksys Gear. Check out Linksys' website for a compatible AP to your Router.

A good panel antenna will be comparable in cost to a repeater so I would try the repeater first. As far as your comment as the Linksys repeater "sucking ass" is this one person's opinion or a group consensus based on multiple setup situations and configurations?

My opinion is based on the review from THG: http://www.tomsnetworking.com/2004/0...reless_wre54g/

Plus, a friend of mine had the older version, it was very inconsistent by speed and range.

They are inconsistant with the firmware that ships with them installed. If you update them to the latest firmware then they're very stable and consistant.

But even so, I would still get a WAP54G or something to use as a Repater to your WAG.
