Just ran across this, thought I'd share.

I'm going to be doing a retro-fit of an original factory Antenna system in a Gateway 600YGR soon. I'll probably post pictures of that once it's completed.

Just a suggestion to protect the threads on the connector, either glue some angled plastic around it so that when you push it into a backpack or briefcase... etc, it does not snag and cause damage. Leave enough space around it so you can attach antenna.

That or make a thread cap out of some fairly dense rubber, shaping its sides as angles so that it creates a smooth flow around the connector.

My 600YGR was designed to have antenna's inside the display panel. I found factory ones I'm going to install. So an external antenna connection isn't going to be an issue, but disassembling the thing is going to be because I have to route to cables through the hinges and into the MiniPCI compartment where I'm installing an Orinoco Silver (and hopefully convert that to a Gold).
