Lightbulb Which hardware is better ?

Hi guys,
I m Andy based in twickenham W.london U.K

I am looking at 2 cards and can't decide which is better........

http://www.demarctech.com/products/r...g-cardbus.html

http://www.demarctech.com/products/r...mcia-card.html

As far as I can see they both have identical performance, only the chipsets are different.......
So which is the better chipset.........netstumbler/ o/s compatability etc.....

Many thanks....

None of them. Both of those cards are illegal to operate in the UK, as the max TX power output is 100 mw in the ETSI regulatory domain.

As for NS compatibility, read the NS readme file, which lists the supported cards.

Is the device illegal or is it just illegal to operate it over the max regulatory domain power output?

Good ,
now we are getting somewhere.

O/s = windows 2000 (sp2) ,software netstumbler ,latest version.
I have read somewhere on the forum that there issues with the latest atheros
chipset and NS:this would indicate I go for the prism chipset pcmcia card.

Thank you.

What do the docs/readme/release notes for NetStumbler say? What does the W2K HCL say? I'm not going to go read it for you! I bet if you had to go pay good money for software you would find out what hardware was supported.

apologies,

In terms of comparing the chipsets I would say that the Ubiquiti card is far superior. To look at the standards they support.

Security
Ubiquiti: AES (WPA2)
Prism2.5: 128 bit WEP, probably upgradeable to WPA

Physical layer standards:
Ubiquiti: 802.11a/b/g (.11h its not phy layer but cool anyway)
Prism2.5: 802.11b

The only thing I think the prism card has going for it is driver support. I dont think madwifi drivers have been made for the Atheros chipset used in the Ubiquiti card. Hence if you are really keen to be sniffing management frames etc, I would go for the prism chipset.

I hope this helps
