Has anyone "Downgraded" their Orinoco firmware
I am trying to downgrade my Dell True-Mobile 1150 on WindowsXP from firmware 8.10 to 6.16 so I can try Wildpackets driver. I have downloaded Orinoco 6.24 drivers (Winter 2001) and edited them so I can install my Dell card and also downloaded Firmware 6.16 and hacked it to update the card. But I get the message in the firmware updater: "Your current wireless card is not updateable with this utility." This is not the same as "wireless card not found..." message so I know that the firmware has been successfully modified.
I then downloaded Dell's version of 6.16 firmware and their Winter 2001 drivers (v6.22.1) and get the same message. So, is it even possible to downgrade firmware? If so, what am I missing?? Thanks |

I had the same problem with my D-Link DWL-660 (non US version!). It has the ORiNOCO chipset and when trying to downgrade it to 7.x or 6.x I got the very same error. aCaB hacked the updater so that it bypasses that particular error message. Here you can find the hacked files: http://www.nervous.it/hw/dlink_dwl660_orinoco.html It's different from the hack that fixes the "No Wireless Card Driver Found" error! This is a new hack, specific for the "Your current wireless card is not updateable with this utility." error! HTH |
