Heads Up about FAB

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to give you a heads up - we are having a big sale this weekend only (through Sunday the 2nd of March) - additional discounts do not apply (sorry) - but at these prices, I don't have that much margin Also the magnetic mount antennas are available from Pacific Wireless for $18 each - they are with a MC connector. We will not be putting them on the website at this time, so if you want one, just let me know.

These are on the Pacific Wireless antennas that folks were asking me to get... This is the 5 dBi version http://www.pacwireless.com/PAWMA24_Data_Sheet.pdf

Yes, 500 mW amps are on sale right now.

Story of my life......a day late!
I *JUST* ordered one of these from another company I had never dealt with before.....a little apprehensively and paid considerably more than $18 bucks.....

It does make me feel strangely more at ease though...that a company with the reputation of FAB, WOULD sell them…

WOOOHHHAAAA! Don't put words in my mouth

I brought these in 100% for Stumblers and by request - notice they are NOT on our store front site. I personally do not like the antenna, and I will be the first to tell you so. FAB Corp does not endorse this antenna, we only have it for those who have asked for it. Likewise I don't want to be seen as bashing it either. So read on to find my views.

I have already given my feedback to PacWireless but here it is -- The magnetic base is very small and weak, also with the amount of Sub-LMR-100 that is used, you are working with a uni-gain antenna. I am still sworn to the old mag mount that I have been selling here for over a year. But at $60 it is more than many want to spend. This new unit does have its advantages, no pigtail mainly. It is small and "value priced".

These were not brought in because of anything other than several Stumblers asking for them - not because we endorse them as a good antenna, I am sure that they are fine in their own respects, but they do fall short of our minimum specifications.

I will bring in anything that someone asks me to - to know if it is something that we would put our reputation on the line for - check out our store site.

Sorry... I guess I *was* implying that since you were selling them, you were endorsing them. My apologies.... I appreciate the candid opinion, too.

I did buy it exactly BECAUSE it is "value priced" (read: cheaper made), and in doing so don't expect top-shelf performance or convenience. I was looking to gently put my toe in the water, rather than jump in.
This is still just an experimental hobby, I (and wifey) don't want to spend big bucks if I find myself just relegating it to the yard-sale in 6 months. I suspect the Stumblin' Bug has bitten and I will continue to want new/better/tweaked equipment as I go along, but that honestly still remains to be seen.......

Analogous to buying the $15 RadioShack soldering iron...then if I like what I'm doing, I'll go get the $250 Metcal.

There is room for Walmart AND Sax 5th Ave.
(guess where I'm seen more)

I just picked one up so that I can extend my range a little while walking around with my ipaq... I don't really have the cash to spend on another decent antenna while fulfilling some of my other hadrware needs, and this seems like it will do the trick. Plus, it's not easy remaining inconspicuous with a 48" omni
