Hi.
I have a DrayTek Vigor 2500 We AP that I need to use to not only make available to my apartment's clients, but also I need to share my internet connection with a building about 500 meters from me. I was thinking of using two can-antennas, one for the AP and the other for the remote client, as there are clear sight between the two buildings, as you can see from the photo. Photo's Legend: Cobertura Metálica - Metalic Cover ; Autoestrada - Highway ; Carro a passar - Just a car passing by... ![]() The deal is this: my AP has two antennas, one external and the other internal. If I use the external connector to connect the can-antenna, will the AP's internal antenna work with the apartment's client's, or will it be shut down due to diversity? If so, having to meet with all these requirement's, what setup will you recomend? A omni at the AP and a can-antenna at the remote client? Will the omni be powered enough to have a propper link quality? Where (URL) can I find the schematics for a propper powered omni for this kind of setup? Sorry for the newbie questions, but this is my first walk into wireless... ![]() Last edited by dissidente : 09-10-2003 at 06:49 AM. |

As you may have guessed, if you connect the "Ext. Antt"
to your AP, you will loose the internal one due to Diversity. You best bet would be to buy another AP and use it for your Ext. P2P link. I would also suggest you use 2 yagi's (One on each side of the connection)
