I finally bought a "real" GPS!

Last night I finally bit the bullet and bought a real GPS. I got the Garmin eTrex Legend. I got the monochrome version, bundled with cig-lighter power cable, data cable and topo maps. It's SWEET! Now maybe I can start that task of wardriving all of DC

That's the one I have, really nice. The suction cup mount doesn't work when it gets really cold, but you shouldn't have that problem that far south.

I bought mine on ebay a blue one. I find that it will go ~8 hours on Ni-MH batteries if I set the etrex to alkaline.

I've really never had a problem loosing signal. I bought one of those "sticky but not sticky pads" from Cracker Barrel, of all places for $5.00. Toss it on the dash and put the GPS on it an it'll hang tight with your average "let's see how this rental car takes this exit" driving
