Hey guys ,I'm extremely new to wireless,I've done several days of reading in the forums for help or the answer I'm looking for,no solutions could be found, let me explain my senerio:I have cable modem and a hard wired modem hooked to my home pc(using windows ME),I also have a company laptop(using XP PRO) I use, recently I got a wireless access point to hook into the hard wired linksys router and a wireless card for the company pc.I have no software for thw WAP that's hooked into my router,so the million $ question is :Is there any way of setting up the router to make the WAP more secure ? The guy down at the pc store told me ,he thought there was a way ,but he didn't know exactly how ! Being new to wireless and wanting to learn from the wireless masters, any and all replies will deeply be appreciated !!!!!!!!!

From the masters themselves:
http://www.michiganwireless.org/modu...rity+Checklist http://www.michiganwireless.org/modu...s=Security+FAQ This has also come up endlessly here, you'll find loads with a quick search.

I can't believe you spent several days reading this forum and did not see a single reference to RTFM. Seriously though, the information you need is in the documentation that came with the AP. It's no more technical or hard to follow than the advice you'll get here, and the manual won't flame you.

The fact that you can't read shouldn't be posted as news. Don't worry, I'm not surprised you can't read; you can hardly write. ![]()

If you want help with this I suspect we will at least need to tell us the brand/model/version of you WAP. The firmware version may also be helpful. P.S. And next time try and post in the correct forum. |
