When I worked on C5 aircraft we used to wait for birds to settle in the grass in front of the aircraft (a little bird seed helps here). Turn on the doppler and watch the frenzie.
Was also fun messing with the CB'ers the HF had a really clean 400 watt amp.
Moral of this story:
Stay away form Air Force flight line with bored Techs. on the loose.

I used to work in a place that had several micowave ovens. One had a defective safety interlock that allowed the oven to operate with the door open.

So this lady proceeds to stick her hand in the over for a moment. Mebbe I should have told her to look inside the over for any pretty colors.

Great, you would have gotten your workplace a nice lawsuit! Couldn't just have been a nice guy and told the woman to not do it?

We had one when I worked fast food as a teenager. The door closed interlock got jammed so it always thought the door was closed. We ran it a couple times and dared another kid to stick his hand in. We grabbed him before he actually did. The manager just shook head. He then took away our microwave.

Water doesn't resonate at 2.4GHz. That's a myth.

Microwaves work by ocsillating energy at a convenient wavelength long enough to pass deep into food. Water rotates anywhere in the 2300-2600MHz range, and the friction caused by the rotation of the molecules heats the food. 2450MHz is convenient because WWII developed nice fancy whistles to blast at the frequency of 2450MHz. First generation microwaves used high-precision radar magnetrons, and then somebody realized that any old magnetron operating at about that frequency would work, and a significant price was cut from the production of microwave ovens and they became very popular.

FYI Water resonates at about 42.8 MHz.

Ahh.. I just KNEW it was an illusion that the water in my tea-cup was boiling, when I zapped it for 45 seconds in the microwave oven... Thanks for confirming my suspicion.. I guess it's back to the old ways with a kettle on the stove...
