Question I'm sure this has been asked before!!!

I have a friend that is building a cantenna. He has the cantenna finished, bought a Orinoco Silver Card(LUCENT) but bought it used and it did not come with software. His laptop recognizes the card but it says their is No AP's active. my guess is that it needs a driver. I looked on the web and there are many different drivers for this card. What driver is the correct one to use with a 802.11b antenna and this card. If this is not the problem what else is it. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Really small ones. But watch out, some of them are part of the union so they can be very expensive and they don't work well.

no they don't make drivers for antennas but they do make them for wireless cards. It seems that the card he bought can serve many different applications. As i said there is many different drivers on the web for this card. I could download all and have him keep trying each until one works or as I thought someone might be able to help. Its not for me I'm just asking to try and help someone out.

If you've installed the correct drivers then the card will appear properly in Device Manager. If you connect your 'cantenna' to the card and you get no AP's active, then chances are your 'cantenna' is FUBAR.
