Is this inverter powerful enough?

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if you guys knew if this inverter would be powerful enough to keep my Inspiron 8200 going.

Thanks, Chris

I would hope so, but what is the wattage of your AC power supply? That's the determining factor.

Unfortunatly, I don't have my power supply with me.

My laptop says:

20V---4.5A if that helps?

Thanks, Chris

Google to the rescue!!!

Voltage x Current = Wattage

20V x 4.5A = 90W

Thanks guys!

now....

Anyone have any experience with this antenna?...

Even accounting for losses with the AC supply, it should be fine at double the required power.

Google to the rescue? Didn't you learn that in high school physics?

Search around before posting that king of question. This antenna has been discussed a lot. Look for "Pac Wireless." It is not a very good antenna. It's rated for 5.5dBi but after you add everything up, or rather, substract all the losses, it is a unity gain at best. Waste of cash unless you have a specific need for it. Antennae are decidedly one area where you get what you pay for.

Borg Man (FAB-Corp)sells them for about 23 bucks. He had a sale last weekend for $18. The ebay auction has aready gone to what FAB-Corp sells them for.

The key is to have batteries that are fully charged (and maintain a charge without charging constantly) or to remove the batteries.... I think that is true for many notebooks, not just the Inspirons.

Never took physics, and even if I did, there have been ENTIRELY TOO MANY chemicals in my head since then. I never would have remembered!

google will have to do!

I can't very well ask about a specific make of antenna if I don't know anything about it such as make and model, can I?

Thank you very much for your assesment.

Any suggestions for a decent antenna for a week-end stumbler. I am new to this so, it dosen't have to be the best quality, just something affordable. Thanks again, Chris

None?! <shock> Cripes, my HS required two full years (Yes, 4 semesters) of physics to graduate.

The point is to search first. The kind of question you asked was bordering on flamebait. Others may not be as easy as I am. It is commonly the "Pac Wireless" brand, but is under many other brands and names. Running a search on "5.5" and "antenna" will yield a lot too. It's better to search than for an hour than to get nothing but flames, no real info, and the thread deleted.

You're welcome. Most people like the Fab-Corp/Wireless Central 5dB with built-in ground plane.
