The pic seems to show a CDPD, or other wireless card, not a 802.11b card.
If you could find the bare connectors for the orinoco (I think fabcorp sells them) you could make a slick little antenna like that, but retail, I'd doubt it. |

i was JUST about to post a thread regarding this exact same topic. thank god i fear blackwave enough to search before i post
![]() has anybody had any luck with making an antenna like that? that'd be so killer to have like a 5dbi antenna without all the hassle of my magmount....you could have some very powerful warstrolling! is this the right connector? i don't really know what i'm looking for. ![]() Right Angel MC Connector This connector is used for ORiNOCO, Avaya, Lucent WaveLAN and many other private labled PCMCIA ISM cards. This connector is for LMR-100A, WBC-100, RG-316 and RG-174. * NOTE: This is a very small connector, if you are not familiar with working on nano sized connectors, we do not reccomend that you purchase this connector. I recently ordered some amplifiers from Hyperlink and they threw in 2 pigtails and 2 little antennas. Too bad the pigtail and antenna both have male connectors.
The antenna was small and only produced about 1-2 dBi gain and about 5 inches long. Not much use for anything but a project like this. There wasn't a ground plane. It appears to be an N connector with a single coil whip. I'm sure you could remove the connector from the antenna and attach it somehow. I'll post a pic of it when I get the chance. Get a hold of Al at Hyperlinktech.com and ask him about them. They were giving them away for free so they couldn't cost much.
