Hello
I'm saving up for a laptop over the summer and putting all that money into wardriving. I'm a long time PC user [Windows], but I know nothing about laptops or any of the sort :\. Are there any suggestions on what to get? I need some speed preferbly above 2.0ghz a decent amt. of memory [at least 512mb] and a decent graphics card [above 128mb]. I think it might be too pricey :\ Any suggestions of any brand I don't care. As long as I can play CS and DAoC and wardrive with it ![]() I might be asking in the wrong place but I'm tired of lurking ![]()

I suggest using that money to go on holiday.
Put aside a couple of hundred dollars to buy a piece o' crap laptop that just about runs windows; it will run Netstumbler perfectly. Kismet too, if you so desire to go down that route. Big, flashy laptops are for people with too much money. You should take the figure you first proposed for your video cards memory, devide it by some number, and use that figure as your system ram. If you want a poncy laptop, buy a Mac, they're much better than an expensive wintel job. /The Others comes over all "cyprus hill"... "Save yo money man, save yo money. Keep stacking those chips up when yo' hot, cause when you not, get out of the mother loving drug game"

Heck, no need for all that speed...
I do my stumbling with an old Dell Latitude CP laptop, 233 Mhz Pentium MMX processor, 96 Mb Ram, Windows XP, and it works just fine. Instead of having the CD-rom drive in the second bay, I have an extra battery slotted in, and while wardriving, the lid is down, so no power is drained by the screen. Gives me about 4,5 hours of stumbling time. No need to go out and buy the latest, greatest, most flashy laptop on the block.. Just my 0.02€'s worth Dutch |
