Linking two houses...

Hi, as I can't get broadband (let alone phone...!) in the new house for about a month, I am going to try to beam my signal across.

I have a LOS, but with only a few branches in the way...but I can see next-doors' chimney perfectly with a perfect LOS.

Anyhoo, just for fun and the time being, I want to go down the homebrew route. The attached pictures are of the mesh things (sieves and food covers) and the other is a butchered Sitecom W143 router/AP.
The tiny cable - how to extend? Just splice some LMR-400?

L

The only recommended splice on coax is with rated connectors. Where are you going to get your signal from? The neighbor?

Tiny coax or not you will most likely lose any gain by attempting a solder splice on the coax. You should probably get a pigtal to replace the coax/antenna on the router.

Thorn - what am I violating?
I am not stealing a connection - Eircom (our phone company) provides WiFi routers...so they advocate sharing the connection. I told the guy what i planned to do and he seemed very intrgued, so no legal problems there.

All I want to do is share the connection from one of our houses to the other...and to do that I would like some advice on elliptical parabolic antennae...something I have not yet found

Sorry, only curious
