Linksys as a repeater?
Anyone know if /how to use a 2nd linksys WAP as a repeater?
Scenario: At the far end of my home, my signal strength is marginal. I wanted to put in a repeater to talk to my main AP where the connectivity to the Cable modem is located. any ideas / help greatly appreciated. Kell Jemison |

even if you set it up another AP as a repeater, the AP will also have trouble getting the signal anyway, so you'll have the same problem. get yourself a better antenna for the main AP. try experimenting a little with the placement within the current room too. sometimes just moving the AP a few feet will solve your problems.

Cheaper solution
The cheapest solution is probably 50-100ft of CAT5 . . . Move the access point away from your cable modem to a more centrallized location.
Remeber hi-gain antenntas will make it easier for outsiders to "stumble" on your network. ![]() |
