linksys wet11 bridging 3 pc's to a BEFW11S4?

ok, i think i have question:

in an attic will be a wet11 connected to a 4-port hub that will have up to 4 pc's connected to it.

on the ground level, there is a BEFW11S4 that is connected to a broadband internet pipe.

i want the devices wired to the hub in the attic to talk through the wet11 to the BEFW11S4 and onto the internet.

is this possible with a wet11?

actually, this question isn't as stupid as it sounds - let me elaborate:

i am aware that a wet11 can bridge ONE device to ONE device, but can it effectively bridge a hub wired to MANY devices?

i read up on the wap11, and noticed that it can EITHER act as a bridge or ap, but not both, and while in bridging mode, can only connect to another bridge.

i need a device that will translate the traffic coming from the hub straight into the wireless router (BEFW11S4).

thanks.

Yes.

thanks.

if i pull this off, i can avoid dropping ethernet cable down the wall to connect to the BEFW11S4.

'nother thing - it seems that if WEP is enabled on the bridge, WEP must be enabled on the AP?

the PC's in this case are actually Axis LAN cameras, which will be installed through the ceiling overlooking various points in the house.

naturally, i don't care to have anyone eyeballing the inside of my house through an open network, so i'm trying to think this out to minimize disaster...

the axis (axes?) can make you authenticate, so that's good if you don't want to use WEP (unless you are actively viewing with the cameras and someone sniffs the connection, that would be trouble...haven't tried this with ettercap yet.)

Yes. The question is (as always when dealing with different manufacturer's wireless equipmnet) is the WEP the same flavor? If it's 40/64 it is standardized. If it's 104/128 then you'll have to experiment.

Good idea! Although there may be money to be made in charging for access to the "Master Bedroom Peep Cam"...

I'm interested in the Axis cameras, although at this point I haven't had any real need to experiment with one. Let us know how it goes.

BTW, a clarification:

It's my understanding that the WET11 will bridge a hub, but NOT a switch. (Which makes sense.) Just make sure that the "hub" is actually a hub, and not a switch.

Or you could connect it to the (Link/Crossover) port of the switch.
They all have one..That way everything on the switch also gets
sent to the WET11
