linksys wpc51ab

just wanted to let everyone know that my linksys WPC11 and linksys wpc51 both work on v 0.3.30.

i'm stoked..

speaking of the wpc 51ab, interesting tidbit on it.

running windows xp pro, you CAN'T run 152 bit encryption, linksys can't get xp to recognoze it, and their config utility is flaky at best.

if anyone has this working, please post how.

thnx

152bit WEP

With Linksys's other Atheros based card you could install the Configuration Utility (sic) on XP and use 152bit WEP keys.

I wonder if you can overwrite the Firmware on the WPC51AB and use the drivers for Proxim Orinoco Gold 802.11a/b... They're a lot better at writing decent drivers, not to mention configuration utilities.

He is using Windows XP Home Edition with the linksys WPC54A utility. Windows XP Home Edition is not much different than Windows XP Professional. I know that the WPC54A is not the WPC51AB but they are very similar... Maybe there is a way of forcing the install of the utility on Windows XP Professional or using the same utility the WPC54A uses??? I don't know but I'll be interested to find out.

I am using the drivers for the Proxim Orinoco 802.11a/b Gold card with the WPC51AB and they work fine... I can't get the Proxim Utility to operate though since the firmware is different

Oh well... Anyone else playing with Netgear WAB501, SMC 2335W, Proxim Orinoco 802.11a/b or Linksys WPC54A cards?
