using orinoco gold with Me ... had to download the latest drivers from orinoco's web site. Card seems a little more troublesome on connecting between work and home wlans than my netgear MA401...but it does work with stumbler. Range on both cards about the same with the gold slightly better. Both much better than my orginal linksys card although I belive that their newer cards work better now.

not intentional

not trying to flame you BUT

the Netstumbler README.htm DOES LIST the card/chipset compatibility. Not trying to say your wasting your time or that it's a noble effort, but, to me, you simply seem like your're RELISTING what the readme already says, just in a more elaborated way.

The readme states that anything with a prism chipset will NOT work and then it goes on to list about 10-15 vendors...if you have one of those cards.... you're SOL w/ the current version of NS. It even lists the the OS's that it should work with. For those having issues with a card that IS listed, they should feel free to SEARCH and READ the forums for answers, b/c more than likely, they'll find them.

you´re right. there is a list with working cards and there is the info that only hermes chipsets work.

But there are so often topics in here like "does my card work with NS" or something like that.
so i decited to build up a own list with working/not working cards, with what driver, under wich OS and what kind of antenna connectordoes they have.

another reason is that there was only a Elsa MC-11 listed, but wich card was it? the Elsa Vianect MC-11 or the Elsa Vianect MC-11?
so somefriends and i tested both cards and we got troubbles with the vianect and netstumbler 0.3.22 but not with the Airlancer MC-11. (now with NS 0.3.23 both cards running).

and the last thing. see it as the firs little part of a better readme.html :-) i still thing that someone should write a new file and add e.g. some new FAQs. maybe i start a wiki wiki (moin moin) version of it in the future :-)

Non-Working Cards...

Well any of the Intel cards/USB adapters. The Intel Pro/2011/2011B series is based on the Symbol chipset. The Intel AnyPoints are based on the prizm 1,2 chipset. I can't get any of them to work in any OS with NS ( I just put in my Orinoco Silver) Would be nice tho

NO OG .......

With Cisco 340 or 350 win 95,98,me 2k or XP home & pro. Although Airopeek, Sniffer 4.7, and Network Observer are awesome with the Cisco cards.

Nortel E-Mobility Doesn't Work

You can add this one to the list, I think it's a Symbol OEM card.
