Pictures are online
Hi all.
outcast_one sent me the pictures a few days ago, and I managed it today to post them into the web. They can be found at: http://devices.planet-wireless.de/reant/index.html If there are other users out there having interesting pictures showing the internals of commercial antennas or wireless lan cards, feel free to contact me. I will post them to planet-wireless.de as well. Bye, Mike |

This looks like some kind of variation on the classic full wave dipole antenna. It's kind of hard to tell from the pictures, but it appears the stuff at the bottom is forming some kind of "balun," which converts to signal from the cable to something appropriate to drive the antenna.
I have done extensive engineering testing on cell phone antennas, and I can say with confidence that very little improves wireless link performance as much as getting the antenna away from noise sources like PCs. I suspect a significant amount of the improvement people realize is from that factor alone. |

it feel like a teen spirit (nirvana)
i's a simple 2*1/2 lambda with a balun at the base.
(by the way GOOd picture !!) it's not the "killer antenna system" Approximative gain : 6 dBi.... no more ...... Config here : 2 miles path,17 dBm and 67% signal with old aironet 350 ( the best ones for me)and two 2 feet tv dish JayZuss is still alive ![]() |
