no need to run Alchemy again as the PDA has finally been changed. But after you changed your PDA, you have to reflash the latest FW on to it for the changes to take effect in your firmware...

But this driver won't detect ANY of my wireless cards (all are original Lucent and all are 7.82 FW). If I can't get it to detect my good cards, I'm not having much faith it will detect my bad card (which it doesn't). ![]() I'll keep trying stuff... -Mc |

hmm..okay , my card works with this firmware and the old driver . the test says firmware/driver-match ok... if i try cardrescue without my card i get a -1 as devicehandle , but you say this driver works with NO card from you , so it must be not right installed... try it again , all other cards must work with the driver ! chaos |

I uninstalled the card and manually deleted the drivers from the HD. I then inserted the card and pointed it to the folder where the old drivers were. They installed fine.
I'll try it again tonight. -Mc |

Ok I came here after being away for a little while and I was suprised at the development.
I had previously tried all types of laptops and isa-pcmcia and pci-pcmcia adaptors with no success! Thanks goes out to all the people involved I managed to flash 2 Avaya Silvers that I got. One was out of my RG-1000 Access point (same as the Mac graphite ap). The first time I tried I copied the original pda out of the cmd window and pasted it into a text editor and change line no 27 from 0109(0a): 0214 0100 2B00 0000 0000 to 0109(0a): 0314 0300 2B00 0000 0000 Saved the file and tried to tell the program where to find it. But it failed saying the file size was incorrect (if I remember the error correctly) Should it have worked? Do we need to redo the crc of the file? If so how? Then retried and didn't do a custom pda and of course it worked fine after a firmware reflash. My next effort was to pull the card from my Avaya USB adaptor and try that. It's the same card with a slightly different part number and it has no front label. Thats the next problem as soon as I insert it into my laptop it hard locks I rebooted to dos and using the original flash program I got the pda off it so the cards not dead. Does anyone know what would cause this? I will try puting it back in the usb adaptor and try that way. Has anyone tried that (is is safe or recommended)? Thanks, Steve |

i'm assuming you're using alchemy...
alchemy uses binary PDA files...the before/after writing PDA files are written saved origpda.bin/newpda.bin, respectively. the input file must be in this binary format. don't worry about the CRC...a new one will be calculated before it's written. and be careful...if you don't know what you're doing, your card may croak. i know binary is hard to deal with, but i just wanted to get the feature in there quickly...when i have more time i'll add text-based pda's too. i've pulled an avaya silver card out of a USB adaptor before and it worked fine..don't know why yours locks up. i haven't tried alchemy on a USB adaptor yet, but it *should* work. if it can read out the PDA, then it should be able to write it. pls try it and report back.

here's the info: DeviceHandle: 20 CardHandle: c14138e0 Try to read PDA calc: adce read: adce closing handles hope that is what you're hoping for. If I get throw my old PDA on it and get a good firmware back, I'd be estatic. I have more testing to do on this card to see if I can make it a gold card and want another chance!!!!! ![]() thanks again... -Mc |

Yeah i'm using alchemy. Yeah I found the binary PDA files after I wrote that post but thought i'd wait till I had more pda's for you before posting again. Alright, so the string for the channels on my card as it stands now at 11ch is: 00000160h: 30 31 32 41 00 00 00 00 02 00 04 01 FF 07 02 00 Change to: 00000160h: 30 31 32 41 00 00 00 00 02 00 ?? ?? FF ?? ?? ?? to enable 14 channels I'll report back how it works with the usb adaptor. EDIT: text based pda editing would be great when you get around to it. Below are more pda's for you (more in the next thread due to a forum limit of 5) . Last edited by cyberdiamond : 05-06-2004 at 12:59 AM. |

the hex for 14 channels is 3fff to change your line to be 14 channels: 00000160h: 30 31 32 41 00 00 00 00 02 00 04 01 FF 3F 02 00 -Mc p.s. here's the hex for all the B/G channel assignments: 7ff => US/Canada: channels 1 - 11 1fff => China and Major European country: channels 1 - 13 3fff => Japan: channels 1 - 14 1e00 => France: channels 10 - 13 70 => Israel: channels 5-7 Last edited by McHale : 05-06-2004 at 02:40 AM. |

thanks for the PDA's, they will come in handy for figuring out how to decode more fields ![]() btw, you can change the channels interactively w/ the latest version (1.01) instead of doing binary pda editing...just use the values from McHale's post above

Does the channel changing happen at the patched point or when I write a new PDA? Could I decline to write a new PDA and still end up with more channels? Cheers, and thanks for a great program.
