MAC Change
Just a question ... I was in the registry tonight and I changed my MAC to 0202DEADBEEF ... I then tried to change it back to 00022D ... whatever the rest is ... I have it written down ... Anyway ... The first part is all that is important ... In the registry it shows the correct MAC that I had written down as well as is printed on the label of the NIC.
When I go into the Client Manager and run a card diagnostics it shows my MAC as 02022D ... whatever. I am not having any problems browsing or hitting my AP but I was curious if anyone had any idea why this might not be recognizing that the MAC is back to what it was or maybe there is something stored into memory with that old MAC and it won't let me assign it with the same address?? Any help would be greatly appreciated ... Like I said, it does not seem to be affecting performance in any way, but would like to be able to set it back to factory when I want to. Thanks

Odd
In the process of trying to figure this out on my own ... I changed the profile MAC address and then realized this was not what I wanted to change ... When I went into the profile I had changed it on and set it back to network assigned it asked me to restart ... Upon restarting the changes I made to set it back to normal in the registry had taken affect. Why it did it this time I restarted and not when I had restarted manually I don't know, but at least it is fixed.
*Thanks Himself for the Help* ![]()

Think So
I believe in the same registry key there is a string value for network SSID or possibly in the profile for network SSID ... I would see this being a bit of a longer process than going into the OCM ... also I like to monitor my signal on my home network and do not use NS to do this

As I understood and has been my experience when I go stumbling, the only way I can get NS to start getting APs is by changing the SSID to blank.
Is the same accomplished by setting it to something random?

I get lunch in about 3 hours - I might be able to check it out when I go home ... Otherwise it will be around 5 Central.
Another question on the MAC change ... I know that 0202DEADBEEF will work ... Will anything that includes 0-9 & A-F work since those are all Hex digits or do you have to start with numbers? Again ... the purpose of this is mainly for obtaining access when there is Mac filtering in place (in a lab environment only) or so that ones actual Mac is not seen on a network that one might pass by??
