That is the greatest! Now you just need one to mount on your car (now that would be funny).

Thank you very much for your interest in our record. The record was set in the end of October in northern Norway well above the polar circle, and our initial goal was to reach 3kilometers, but I had to take an extra shift at work so the 3km attempt was abandoned as we did not have the time. I and Simen (the other record holder) does not live in the same city, so the next record will be set when he’s back in town next holiday.

The technical details of the record:

1. The phone used in the attempt was an Sony Ericsson K700i whit no modifications

2. The Bluetooth adapter was a MSI MS-6968, this adapter has an external RP-SMA plug and is class 1 (100m), no modification was done to this.

3. The coaxial cable use was homebuilt, the cable used RP-SMA à N-connector and the length was approximately 6meters (low-loss)

4. No amplifiers was used what so ever

5. The antenna used was home built, it consists of a parabolic dish whit a biquad in the centre of the dish. The biquad was entirely handmade! The dish had a diameter of 150cm and did not have negative offset.

6. The drivers used was widdcom v.1.4.3 Build 4, supplied from MSI

7. The firmware of the dongle was version 525

8. The gain of the antenna is roughly 35dBi, but this is only my guess.

9. Connection was confirmed by sending a picture file of 50KB 3 times

10. The distances was measured by a notebook with GPS and chart software from Garmin

11. The total distance of the record was 2125meters (+- 10m)

I don’t think too many people worldwide has heard of the record yet, but it’s beginning to be well known in Scandinavia (we are currently linked to at least 8 hardware cites), mainly because the article is written in Norwegian and not too many people understand this language.
