Moded my Senao but it does not work SL-5354CB

Hi all,

Any experienced modders out there that can tell me why my modded card is not working?

It seems that the card is using the internal antennas and not the external one when connected. Here are some generic pictures of the card and my modded card, any recommendations would be appriciated.

Anyone know if this card does Turbo Mode?

Thanks

Are you sure you soldered something to the antenna section of the PCB ? As far as I can see you didn't.

The two F shaped areas are the antennas.

That would be because you didn't remove the internal antenna from the circuit.
Here's a recommendation cut the trace and remove the internal antenna of this doesn't guarantee any results since there's no telling if the impedance is correct or that your mod is even functional.

Cut the trace but still no luck

Would anyone recomend unsoldering the connector and making the core and braid a bit longer and touching on diff places while keeping the ground on the same place while scanning.

I varified that the braided wire is soldered to ground with a multimeter but I dont know how accurate this is.

Im sure there was a user who modded a card on these baords that was the same layout but it was a SMC card. I can now only find his pics in google cache and they are to small to view

What makes you say the card is not for A band as well?

This seems to indicate that it is: http://www.senao-me.com/products-det...Id=5&ProdId=12

Based on the model # you supplied, anyway.

Looking at the pix you supplied, the silkscreen does show where additional parts would go in the A band circuit.

Is this some bastard version of the card?

Just curious. Where did you cut the trace? Have you considered connecting to the other antenna feed? Is your coax shorted?

Just a thought, the antennas that are F shaped are hooked up in a way that they are connected to the tx/rx LED and that flashes when data is sent. Does this help at all, are those infact the correct antennas?

I bought this card really cheap ($14) for just this purpose to hack around so no big loss if I kill the thing.

So Ill take any options to try make it work.

They would be connected but not directly. There would be some other circuitry involved in the translation of incoming/outgoing data to make LED's flicker.
