Smile Modifying an Airlink+ PCMCIA card

Hi, i recently just rediscovered an oldish 802.11b Wireless PCMCIA adapter from Airlink+, Model # WLCO10(INT). I disassembled it and i found 5 holes on the board near the antenna. They are gold and arranged like how dice are: 2 dots on the top, 1 in the middle, and two on the bottom. Is it possible to solder an external antenna i made to it? Or do i have to cut part of the internal antenna off and solder the wire to that? OR would i have better luck connecting the externa antenna to my Buffalo Airstation adapter Model:WLI-CB-G54S, or a Proxim Orinoco Silver a/b combo card, Model:8461-03. Well i would truly appreciate it if you guys could enlighten me. Thanks

How about you go ahead and then tell us?

Everyone in here has "released the magical blue smoke" from a circuit board or 3 at one time.. it is time for you to sniff the solder.

As a matter of fact, I just did about a week ago. A huge cloud of magic blue smoke from a 400w powersupply.

Okay then thanks for your great advice. So you just want me to grab a soldering gun, cut my wire in half and then apply a 3 inch thick layer of solder onto it so it sticks? I think i could do that without a problem. Maybe i should even get parental supervision so i dont get high off the smoke and decide that silver looks good on my teeth

If you think you'll need it.
