Well Guys, I might stand a chance I do hold a current Radio Telephone License.
Also employed by an Authorized Moto dealer Just install and work on Astro, Trunking, Digital, APCO25.

Just have to "word" the email right and send it to the right division

Tell them my kid is doing a science fair project and want to show him the different between a surface mount capacitors and a diodes. Using an inexpensive piece of equipment???? hehehehe

FYI.....Looking at mine I do not see any diodes on the trace to the antenna connector. I have no idea why there would be capacitors on the trace to the connector......Simpel way to disable it would be a diode.

I consulted with a friend who used to work for Motorola. He said he'll predict snow in hell before you get a schematic. Unless you were to sign NDA's if you were even given that opportunity, which I doubt you will.

What does Motorola have to gain by giving you a schematic? Nothing. What do they have to lose? Everything.

There's not going to be any SMD diodes on the RF path. There will be plenty of capacitors for filtering and DC blocking.

Trying to get a schematic?

Ideas on how to obtain a schematic, that you have been making premature assumptions on?

Dealing with Motorola Service Engineering?

Some peoples ego's tend to make me sick!

You have a better idea please inform me.

Well, when you get them, be sure to scan the corner of the schematic that has the part# and other information and post it, just to prove the point that you got it. We don't want to see the whole thing, but some proof would be nice to see.

Moto IT department is a good place to start. When the Astro first came out we as engineer's had to consult with software programing issues, a real taboo subject.

I have nothing to prove and just help using a creative style dealing with Moto.

I enjoy this site and post very little and have learned, listened, experimented. Very bright intelligent people on here some just need to relax a bit.

I apologized if I offended anyone..........

And will go back into seclusion.

Regards,
Jason

I think our point was that most companies are not willing to give out schematics to their products to every Tom, Dickhead and Fucktard out there. Not saying that you're any of those, but schematics generally are held as company secrets. Maybe you'll get one if you have some sort of service relationship with them, but I don't see why they would anyway since generally these units wouldn't be serviced at that level anyway, any servicing would be done at their facility.

I've gotten schematics myself for many things that I own, but the only computer related schematic I ever saw was for the Commadore-64 that came with the Advanced User's guide.

I don't think anybody around here is offended.. Maybe a bit surprised at how naive you are believing that Mot is going to hand over documents for a $19 product. Hell I as a vendor couldn't get paint color codes without a NDA being in place.

Plus what good is a schematic at illustrating the difference in a smt cap and diode. If both are smt they can physically look the same.

Wow, it took 3 years to come up with that brilliant bit of literary witticism. You should be a Rhodes Scholar.
