ok sorry about this but it appears i cant edit my posts

the software i want to use would be netstumbler and airsnort and compatabilty between my hardware and these is obviously essential

edit : should have logged back in then i could edit

are the super g cards and routers suitable
if not could i buy a super g card and router and a seperate card for war driveing without conflicts on the laptop with changeing wifi cards ???

So may I assume you will be running combination of windows and linux? Dual boot (at least on the laptop)?

yes i will sorry
unless there is a similar app to airsnort that will work on xp?
im not exactly keen on dual boot but i could use my knoppix cd but id like to keep the laptop on xp an the main pc is xp os aswell
when at home my laptop is generally in the same room as the main pc if anything 20 ft away at the most unless i take it outside which isnt very often and i transfer alot of divx's etc over to the laptop for when im working away from home so im keen to get as fast a connection as possible without wires hence the thought of super g
but i also want to wardrive so it seems like these orinoco cards are the best ? would i be better getting one of those and a suitable router ?
i would also prefer external antenna for the laptop when im war driveing what would be suitable ?
