Need a PCMCIA card: ORiNOCO? What's best? Recommendations...
I’m looking for a recommendation: I need to buy a PCMCIA card that is known to work with NetStumbler and Airsnort/Aircrack in *windows*. (I have a thinkpad x31 with no dock at the moment, so I can’t install linux) I don’t mind whether or not it’s wireless G compatible. What do you recommend? I’ve been told that you can’t go wrong with ORiNOCO…but what is the difference between the silver and gold ones? I would prefer something that can have an external antenna added. What other chipsets are comparible, what is in the same league as ORiNOCO? What about PRISM cards? What cards are people having the most success with wardriving? (<-- I’m obviously completely new to this)

That depends on what you wardriving requirements are... Could you elaborate on what you want out of your wardriving gear?

What does not having a dock have to do with installing Linux? There are half a dozen ways I know of to install it, none of which require a laptop to have a dock. If that is your only limitation that is keeping you from from installing Linux, then head over to a Linux forum and look for install information.

You may no be new, but that's a VERY basic question. The difference is in the encryption. Do some more searching.

For general, all-around wardriving use, none.
