You may be able to use the Linksys as a repeater, or connect the two APs together with a cable.

I'm not sure I totally understand you...so let me take a wack at this. Are you simply trying to extend your signal as in repeat it out further or simply trying to get an overall extended range?
Unless the linksys has a repeating mode, you cant use it as a 'repeater'. I know dlink makes repeaters that sell for around 70$us retail, but they requrire a cat5 connection if I remember correctly. You can simply just have overlapping coverage or bridge the connection between the 2 routers I spose as that would probably easier & cheaper. YMMV and if I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about, simply ignore me as I probably don't. hehe ![]()

The Linksys router (BEFW11S4) will not function as a wireless repeater.
The Linksys Access Point (WAP11) will. What you can do is install a Linksys WET11 to connect another wired network to the wireless network. So, I guees in theory you might try connecting a WET11 to the WAN of the Linksys router which will be set to a static IP and DHCP turned off....... Ok, I am just rambling now. There are easier ways to get this done. WAP11's. Last edited by HITMONEY : 03-01-2004 at 10:51 PM. |
