Netgear WG311T
Hi, I'm new to all of this so be nice
![]() I am thinking about integrating a WLAN PCI card (Netgear WG311T) into my upcoming CarPC. Can anyone please tell me if it works with Netstumbler? I know the Netgear WG311 has an Atheros chipset but I don't know if the WG311T is different harware wise (it supports 108MBit/s as opposed to 54MBit/s from the WG311 if that helps). Many thanks! |

What kind of carPC install you doing that would allow the use of a PCI wireless adapter? You putting the PC in the trunk? Do I know if it will work with NS? No I don't. I guess a better question is why you need 108 in a car? Last edited by wrzwaldo : 05-13-2004 at 02:03 PM. |

Yes, I am putting a PC in the trunk (see project log). 108MBit/s would be nice to transfer files from my home network to the car.

I haven't seen any threads here regarding compatability with that card. If it doesn't work with Netstumbler you can always get a USB Orinoco unit for wardriving purposes, 108Mbit/s won't help at all for wardriving.

I have that card it works with XP, might work with 2000 too but I havn't tested it. It works really well and has a munch better range then my USB MA101
You already have XP on your machine so why didn't you just stick it in and try it?? Was it because you didn't read that alot of cards work with XP? Get an external antenna for it tho, the one that comes with it BLOWS. I will try it on windows 98 and might let you know if it works with that. |
