NetStumbler and a Compaq TC1000 Tablet PC
Has anyone used Netstumbler with Compaq's TC1000 Tablet PC? I just purchased one and to my surprise, Netstumbler actually detected and used the internal WiFi NIC that comes with the system.

"Compaq 802.11b WLAN Mini-PCI NDIS 5.1"

I have noticed an odd behavior 'stumbling' with the internal NIC. The internal NIC seems to scan for 1 second, sleep for one second, scan for one second, etc. The scanning process is like a flashing beacon. An exported TEXT file of a scan shows this:

Even in the data, every other scan interval is "blank". I was wondering if anyone else had a TabletPC and had noticed the same effects.

Yes, I have a TC1000 adn it does the same thing. I have to get a Cisoc card and use that instead, which works fine.

This is old news, but I never did post what the issues was or the resolution. This "scan for 1, sleep for 1" was a byproduct of the Windows's Power Management options on the wireless network card. With the, "Allow Windows to turn of this device to save power" enabled - Windows polls the hardware every second to determine status. With this option checked, Netstumbler activity behalves in an off/on fashion every second. You need to disable the power management in order to resolve.

FYI - in case anyone has been waiting 3 years for an answer...
