I would've prefered to see a USB cable. The serial cable screams OEM, but the cigarette lighter says consumer. I would've expected two stripped wires or something for the power...

I dunno, I can't think of another GPS reciever I would prefer over my Sapphire. You can't beat the lock time, the included cables that are spliced together to provide power to both the GPS and the iPAQ, or you can just get the straight USB cable for you lappy users.

Talking of new laptops only having usb ports. I just ordered one of these usb to com adaptors from
www.gpsbitz.co.uk couldnt find the same belkin one here in uk that eyecannon and other people are using but this one should do the job. here is the details they emailed me. Thought this may be of use to anyone in uk/europe havent tried it yet though but in theory it looks like it should be suitable. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Belkin rebadged our converter hardware and Garmin largely failed some years back. Device Manager assigns COM Ports well above COM 2 but usually 3,4,5,6 are used for GPS and similiar. Mappoint is same as Autoroute in this context and looks for COM ports above COM 2 (can't remember how high they will go - not far). Anyway, its mainly a problem with old software applications that either only look for COM 1 and 2 or skirt windows and look in the BIOS - they will not work. Nokia are typical here and some older 232C devices. Ours works very well and comes with either a 4inch cable or 6 footer. We went the extra miles and got Microsoft approval for our driver. At least we get a quality mark there and can sell to quality businesses. Not sure about Netstumbler - is that wardriving stuff? I can speed up the GPS sampling rate on Mappoint from 20 to 2 secs (2001 I have done and USA version) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
