OK, so do I need an external antenna or not?
Here's the setup I'm planning to build:
19dbi parabolic antenna w/ 40' LMR-400 attached to an SMC access point. On the other end I'll have a Orinoco Gold USB which is about 500' away. Will I need an antenna on the Orinoco, or will it be able to get a good signal if I just put it buy a window or something? I'm concerned that it will be able to receive OK, but sending will be a problem. I have the pigtail to attach a cantenna if needed, but I'd rather not. What you guys think? BTW- it'll be a line of a sight connection (with some light foilage from a tree in the way).

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean ? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind. |

Based on that description, it sounds like you want a true PtP setup. If so, go with two 8dBi yagis. One on each end is a much better solution.
Didn't we discuss some of that here? http://forums.netstumbler.com//showt...&threadid=3034
