Orinoco Gold and firmware 8.10 - Is it a bad thing?
Just got a new Gold card and was wondering what the ups and downs of flashing it are? Can anyone shed some light on this?

1. they have sorted some problems out look at the readme file with the driver


downs.
1. doesnt work with wildpackets
2. its not very backward compatible with older versions of cards in ap's
3. if your card is brand new then it is version 4.04 ( this is bad for compatibility with older cards as well.

im using it and not finding any problems anymore!!

monitor mode
I thought I read monitor mode is disabled now, or is it a matter of just figuring out how to turn it on again?

best advice is to use it, and see what can and can't be done with it. if things don't work, upgrade (or downgrade) the firmware and try again. different features are available with different driver/firmware combinations.
