Orinoco Gold vs Classic Gold

Hi all,

I am planning on purchasing an Orinoco Gold card. While browsing my local computer stores, I noticed there are Orinoco "Gold" and "Classic Gold" versions. Can anyone tell me what is the difference between them? There is also a significant price difference between them too(about $30).

Thanks alot!

They are a different chipset.

Orinoco Card Pictures

Next time SEARCH. This is posted in the FAQ areas as a STICKY for a reason. It's posts like this that attract flames, and get the regular memebers screaming for a newbie's head.

Have you looked online for the Classic card, sometimes you can find one for about $40 or so.
The classic works with netstumbler and other stuff like Knoppix-STD
The new gold card does not, although it may work with the latest version
of netstumbler I haven't really looked to see.

Hi,

Thanks thorn and nitrozip for your replies. But why is the such a great price difference? The "Gold" version costs about 45SGD locally, and "Classic Gold" costs 90SGD. Thanks.

The classic is solid gold and the new gold is only gold plated.

And inside every specially marked box of Orinoco, there is the highly coveted "Platinum Card" (Made of solid Platinum!) That is capable of all wireless standards (Yes that’s right ALL!) It even comes with a built in Nero-Lazy™ button that automatically detects laziness by avoiding forum "search" functions and automatically spewing n00b rhetoric all over the board. Saving the n00b from any actual work (like typing or thinking). Only 1 in 1 million be lucky to get this card, this rest will get molded C4 that can be detonated by anything in the 2.4GHz range. Have fun and good luck to you in finding the C4… errr.. I mean Platinum Card.

I like your thinking, but, he wont have read it. There was like 4 or 5 sentences there! Reaching the word "inside" was, I imagine, a struggle. He's gone, his mind has melted. The earth is a cold dead place.

Thanks, you know I am just practicing to hopefully get a chance to be "Guest Flamer" on WTOTD. You know the show is sponsered by BastardCard, and I am not only a member, but the president himself! (of BastardCard)

Actually it just amazes me how easy it is to use this board and not have any problems just by using the "search" function and reading the FAQ's. (and a bit of lurking doesn't hurt either) Just as much as it amazes me that other people can not figure this simple idea out (and to think, some might be in the IT field !)

I vote we should have a border of search buttons around every post on every page. That might work.....

Perhaps a bright blinking banner that warns "The Surgeon General Warns: Continued use of this site may cause premature ejaculation resulting in perminant erictile disfunction" and have it the kind of banner that follows the mouse pointer around. then say after 40 posts or so it disappears (which would mean I would be putting up with this damn thing if it were there at the moment)

Done and done! Others could probably use the break; he's burning himself out, what with flaming n00bs, I mean victims, I mean sheep, I mean guests AND drinking heavily at the same time!

/hands Redman a chilled GOOtini

Any time you feel like doing a cameo, just go ahead!

Thanks "mate". it would be better if you just told me to my face, but, no; you had to be underhand about it all: Get another guy in, convince me I need a "break". Thanks, dude. I thought we could be straight to one another. I thought you were a man. I guess I was wrong.

WTOTD was dead anyway.

Don't be like that, mate. I was just concerned with your health and welfare! The candle that glows twice as bright burns twice as fast, and what not. I didn't say you were dumped; you're always welcome any time, and you know that. Here; have a GOOtini.

/hands Others a GOOtini. also makes sure Others isn't under contract.

Look, I'll even give you rebrandsoftware's mom to make it better. Whadda ya say, Others?

I'm still upset, obviously. I live by the philosophy of "burn the candles at both ends, then, turn on the lights".

If that's the way you feel, however, I wont make a fuss.

/throws stolen softwares mother other shoulder. Trys to make way to the door. Stumbles around and falls over under the weight.

Sniff

/moves quietly through the back door. On hearing the door handle rattle, the crowds outside scream with excitment. Silence befalls the studio parking lot as they realise who it is. A disapointed customer says what everyone is thinking:

"Quiet down girls, it's only "the others", if that is his real name. Come on, lets wait for a real star, not this reject."

Huh. Must've been G8's groupies. He's quite the playah. All I have is my cat, Monitomcat7. He's my biggest fan. Face it; at the end of the day it's all booze, cigarettes, porn and lonliness...

/sad saxophone music kicks in. M7 goes to dressing room and closes the door, for a private moment with a bottle of Glenn Livet, a cigarette, and a copy of "Hardcore WarPorn". It's the "S&M Tard-Beating Issue"! Hey, I'm happy again!
