panel mount vs. front mount

Why does it seem that the N Female Panel Mount is a lot more popular than the N Female Front mount bulkhead. It would appear that the front mount would be easier to use w. antennas, as only one hole needs to be drilled, and is also cheeper.
The only reason I can come up with is that the extra threading on the front mount would throw off some calculations.

I believe the panel-mount variety are more common, that's certainly true at my local electronics shop.

Cheaper + Commonly Available = More Frequently Used

Both types work fine, just different mounting methods.

where do you guys buy yours? at fab-corp the panel mount is a buck more
