Parabolic Dish
Hi, my sister live about one block away from my house, and I want to join her network to share files and the internet. I have a parabolic dish (From Dish Network), and thinking to build a parabolic antenna to gain signal from her AP. (I'm poor and try to cut down the budget)
But my question is, there's about six houses in between us and there isn't any clear line of sight in between her house and my hosue. Is it possible for the parabolic antenna to get a good signal from her AP? Someone please help me on this...really approciated. Thanks, ![]() |

In order to cut through 6 houses you would need ample power to fry the brains of your 3 nearest neighboors inside thier skulls.
No line of sight = No connection!

We did this in Orlando from the Orange County Convention Center to the School Board office. There was a large building in the way, so we did a 9 mile shot to the top of the Marriott and a 1.5 mile shot on to the School Board. We did it for a 4 day convention. No amps, just yagis. We did 2 point to point links for each hop. 1 vertical polarity and 1 horizonal polarity and trunked them together. We had enough bandwidth to support over 1500 vendors in the exhibition halls. FYI: do not use schedule 40 PVC pipe for antenna masts, even temp. When the thunderstorm and winds come by, the signal will waver considerably. MikeP
