Question pci OR pcmcia to pci?

I'm buying parts for my car pc, and I'm wondering if I'll get better resuts with a pci wifi card or a pc card with a pci to pcmcia adaptor.

I know I have more options with an adaptor, but I don't think I will actually use any of those options.

I plan on dual booting, so I'd like to get a card that is linux compatiable, and from what I've read here the orinoco cards are not. Can someone confrim/deny this?

This is the wrong forum, but are there any glassmount antenna options?

Thanks for your time.

a USB adaptor is the best bet for a car. you don't have to buy expensive, bulky RF antenna cabling...instead, you can use a USB cable to run the adapter to near the window, and then use a short pigtail to connect to the antenna.

orinocos have plenty of support in linux.

Both.. It doesn't Matter (PCMCIA/PCI Converter)

However if you get a Via Epia MII main board (MII12000)
it has a CF & PCMCIA Slot built in, and its small enough
for the car (Mini-ITX) and runs on 12v power.

It's looking cheaper just to go micro atx. I can still probably fit it under my seat. If not, the trunk is an alright place. I was just curious if pci wifi cards were in anyway better than pcmcia cards.

Also I'm having a tough time finding usb pcmcia adaptors. All that turn up is pcmcia cards that have two or four usb ports on them, not the other way around.

right, that's one of the reasons why i was suggesting a USB wifi adapter.

Well. I didn't like many of the usb wifi cards I saw, so I'm going to get a pcmcia pci card and get an orinoco gold classic card.

I found a orinoco card and a 7db antenna combo on ebay for $70, I think I'll do that...

why don't you get an orinoco classic USB...it has a PCMCIA card inside anyway so you can use it both ways. something like this:
