PCMCIA and extreme g

I have a firewire PCMCIA card which I use in a 2 year old laptop. AFAIK, the best throughput I have been able to get is 50Mbs. Which raises the question, can the extreme g cards actually do the 108 Mb/s they advertise? I realize the extreme g is a cardbus, but aren't there other limiting factors.

That IS the 108 they advertise. This stuff is half-duplex. Therefore it only transmits one half the time; therefore speeds are half of what is advertised, minus some overhead.

With real vs. advertised speeds you see something like this:
