pcmcia-pci and orinoco problems

I have a Nokia C910 cirrus logic chipset pci-pcmcia adaptor and a enterasys (orinoco) silver card (trying to flash to gold ).

Running windoze XP.
Whenever I insert the card in the cradle the machine instantly hard locks!

Anyone have a fix for this?

TIA,
Steve

The problem lies with the Cirrus Logic chipset used in the PCMCIA adapter. It is known to have a LOT of issues with different cards. Buy an adapter with the Ricoh chipset. It is reported to be the best chipset.

http://www.hyperlinktech.com

and

both sell the Ricoh chipset. If your motherboard has a VIA chipset, then stay away from any Texas Insturments PCI PCMCIA adapters. Ricoh is the way to go. I have used them hundreds of times and they have always worked.

It seems to work ok with my dell true mobile 1150 card ???
initial testing only atm (no wep etc) but at least it not hard locking?

Strange as I thought they were supposed to be the same cards?

Using the same drivers and both cards have latest 8.72 firmware.
