PCMCIA or USB Adapters that can be modded for antenna and work with Net Stumbler

Hey again,

I have given up hope looking for a card that has connections for either MC or RP-SMA before monday. I will have to resort modding my card.

The question is what card should I get to mod?

I can pick one up from CompUSA and here is their selection:

PCMCIA Cards - http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...0160&Ne=200000

USB Adapters - http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...0715&Ne=200000

I need to get a card where I can mod it to work with my biQuad Dish style antenna. That has a RP-SMA pigtail on it so couldnt I buy a RP-SMA cable at CompUSA and just cut off the male end and throw that on the card with some solder? Yea I know its a waste but its nessisary if it means I can get this done.

Also, the card would need to work with Net Stumbler and related programs. Without knowing, I would assume it should also be b/g so I can get the majority of networks rather than a or b alone (right)?

Anyways, thanks for any help...

Dude, you do know your other 2 posts are pretty much like this, and they both ended up in the newbie bin?

Because, quite honestly, this has already been covered ad nauseum. If you searched the forums for general recommendations and maybe add the connector into the search, you would get quite a few returns.

Also, being a student, I would think you would know how to do better research than what you've shown thus far.

I think right about now would be a good time for you to head up to the Welcome Desk and read all the threads there. Then use some of the advice given in the posts there, and read the documentation for the programs you want to use, to figure out what hardware is supported. Then head down to the FAQ section and find out how the different 802.11 standards interact, and what you can do and do not with the various cards that support the various 802.11 standards.
It's your homework, do the research YOURSELF, instead of trying to take the easy way out and get others to answer your questions.

This thread goes the same way as the other thread of yours : Down to the Newbie Bin.

Well, if you live anywhere near Los Angeles, it is kind of beige.
