PigTails and extentions. And signal interference due to glass.
i have a 120 degress parabolic grid antenna, will it go through a van window? should i replace the window with plexi glass? is there any signal loss due to extending my pigtail? what should i use if i want to extend the reach of the pigtail and whats the most i should extend it? im just getting into war driving. my neighboor got me into it. he gave me his old 19Db parabolic grid antenna after he showed me how he had hacked into my network over the past week using it. i figured it was him when i noticed an extra user on the server...he broke ssh1! but he had forever to do it. hahaha. now i know im not secure. We share internet access now with a oc3 coming to my house and a 2 pringles can setup. ive never tried extending the pigtail but im wondering how it will affect the connection. he thinks im st00pid. it works he sez, dont fug with it.

Signal loss.
You'll drop about .5db per connector. Your cable for that short of run really won't matter - you'll drop more signal with the connectors. I'd try to find a patch long enough to do what you need if it's inside your car.
As for the window, it'll go right through as long as it isn't tinted or have lead. Basically, if you think that you could stick the glass in the microwave, turn it on, and the glass won't get hot, then 802.11 will go right through w/o a problem. Tron Of Borg |
