Please Help - Wireless Card Won't Connect...

I have a netgear MA401 wireless card on my laptop

when not connected to a network the light on it just keeps blinking

it will only connect to a network if I remove then re-insert the card

that's the only way I can get it to find new networks or connect

anyone know why it's not working?

if there is any way of getting it scan?

thanks

Not sure which client manager you're using but try WLANSTA>EXE at :

http://www.microalcarria.com/descarg...01_V200/Win98/

I use it with my 401 and it works fine under XP...

First connecting to your own AP is fine, connecting to someone else without their consent is ILLEGAL. Read the FAQs, NS is a survey tool. Need I say FLAME-ON...

Got my marshmellows ready ...

Not another one...

Maui is correct. You are asking about something that is illegal, and not discussed here. Please do not take this any further as it will only attract flames.

lol

lol

so then connecting while at the local cafe is now illegal?

perhaps I chose the wrong wording

but you jumped to some serious conclusions

there are lots of places here that offer free wifi

when I go out to try to connect to them the card can't find them without me having to unplug then replug the card

sorry for the confusion

I'm not into anything illegal

if anyone can help me then great

if not not sorry I bothered

It is illegal if you don't not have their permission, many of times on this forum people have asked how to use NS to connect to other people's AP without permission.
Carefully stating your intent and situation will keep you from getting flamed or wrong conclusions being made.
Most local cafes have there SSID and settings posted so there is no needed to use NS to grab their settings.
If everything is legit then the link that mopsie gave works without a problem.

ok I never said anything about using netstumbler

I'm only trying to simplify the connection process

I'm going on vacation and plan on using different free wifi places

most here don't require anything from you, you just connect and surf

my laptop will connect automatically if the card is "reset" by pulling it out and re-inserting it

I'll try that program and see if it helps

thanks
