power for garmin etrex

I cannot seem to get the garmin etrex to work with the
power from the car...
on the lighter adapter there are alot of settings...
+ and -
and 1.0 1.5 etc....
Any one have this pc/power cable...

I picked up a combo cable that powers the GPS from the cigarette lighter and gets the data to the PC. I got it from youngstowngps@yahoo.com and paid 38.50 delivered.
