Question on Orinoco pigtail
Thanks for all of your responses to what card I should by. I really am a noob at this and I swear I have spent countless hours searching these forums for all the information my brain can handle.
I have a quick question regarding the pigtail I should by. I have bought a Orinoco Gold card and I just purchased the HyperGain * dBi Omni antenna with a N-Male. I know this is a stupid question and common sense should answer it but just to be sure, since I don't actually get to see the products themselves I wan't to be absolutely sure. When I buy my pigtail, should I get it with a female N connector? I know, I know. But hey, I just wanted to make sure. Also I know that I will get a little bit of signal degredation going with a 60" instead of a 19" but I wanted to make sure I have plenty of slack for moving around. Is there really that much of a difference? Thanks again, Nuro |

If your antenna is coming with a N-male connector then you need a pigtail with a N-female connector.
*** Are you positive the antenna is coming with a N-male connector?? I ask because the vast majority of antennae come with N-female.

Better to ask before buying anything. Male is what you want. Buy several if you can afford it. The connectors on the pigtail are VERY fragile.

Here is the Antenna I bought. I saw no selection for N Female. So I chose the only N that I saw which was N-Male.
http://www.hyperlinktech.com/web/hg2408u.php So you are saying I should also by an N-Male pigtail?? |

OK, I'm a damn'd moron. I just realized that I hit the wrong add to cart button and chose N-male. I will cancel my order and place a new one. Way to show noob stupidity huh? sheesh.
*Oh, and what about the length? Will the 5 foot pigtail really screw me? Or should I stick with the standard 19 inch?* Thanks Last edited by Nuro : 12-13-2002 at 10:12 PM. |

5-footers cost more. You wanna consider replacement costs as well. If you so much as FART on that connector, it will break.
