Repeater
You posted a message ("Is there a specific brand name repeater that does not require you to connect to an AP of the same brand? Thanks!"), which is the same question I have. I was wondering if you ever found a solution? I have a WAP right now but it doesn't cover the distance I need, so I was looking for a product to extend that range. Any help is greatly appreciated.

After some extensive research, all the experts state that the "reapeater" function is tied to the specific hardware and therefore there is no such thing as a repeater that will relay the signal from an anybrand AP.
Another option for you is to use a bridge like the linksys wet11 connected to a linksys wap11. This would serve the same purpose as a repeater but more costly as you would have to buy 2 hardware components. Lucan |

This was on todays front page of netstumbler.com.
Seems those goofy Mac guys got the rest beat when it comes to what you want to do. Speaking of Macs, Here is a halarious Mac spoof commercial. I've seen a bunch but this is by far the best one. ![]() |
