Roofmounting Omnidirection antenna. Where do I research? Or does someone have input?
I'd like to set up a 1-3ft omni-directional antenna on my roof and run a line about 15-25ft to my pc. I'm familiar with a few brands of PCI cards that are good but I'm interested in others opinions.
My goal is to test range to allow wifi for me around town possibly or simply see what signals I could pick up. So which antenna's should I look at, what pci cards with dongles should i research, what wire would i use, and if I want to keep it simple can i do without an amplifier if I'm running between 15-25ft of wire? Thanks, Mike |

Well since I hear with low quality cable I can lose signal by the time it hits the pci card and I'm not sure what antenna's are good or what cards are. Im just looking for a nice setup maybe around 50-70 that will get some serious reception and output a nice signal. Sorry about being so general.
