Satellite Broadband & AP
Need a little help.
I just installed a satellite broadband dish to my wired network and invoked MS Internet Sharing to allow my other systems to access the web via 192.168.0.1 gateway. My wireless access point works on the network, however it will not allow me to access the web via 192.168.0.1. I can ping the IP and even map a drive, but due to the lag time with the satellite upload/download, I can't establish a connection. Each system is running Win2000. Anyone experience this problem and have a solution? Don |

What type of satellite broadband do you have?
I did some research on this type of thing a while back, but have no experience since I cannot get satellite coverage where i live, but essentially there are 2 types - dial return - where you need to maintain a dialup connection for the outbound traffic and only the inbound comes via satellite, and - 2-way - where the satellite rig is a send/receive unit. I have been told that sharing the dial return requires special software because it actually has 2 IP addresses, one for outbound that comes from the dialup ISP, and the second, for the inbound, which comes from the satellite bandwidth provider. Take a look at the sharing configurations for the DirecPC and see if that helps any |

Same prob here.....
I had the same problem with my cable modem, when using my Compaq laptop. I had to "hardware disable" the internal NIC in the laptop to get internet access, with the Orinoco Silver.
