naff thread title but couldnt think much past which curry I want
Must start by thanking the long standing members for a wealth of info. Yep search does help!! Ive been reading for quite a while but first post.
On a weekly bases you get the question hinting towards 802.11g cards. As so many people use 802.11b cards for wardriving would limiting a/b or g on router hide the access point? I cant find how the protocol does handshaking to establish the link. Is the SSID visable regardless of the a/b/g banding?

For example the wag54g router can pick a/b or g only wifi so does only g hide the router from orinoco ect.ect b cards or does this produce the 0005 error (as I havent seen a good reason for this error)?
Unfortunatly I have neither so cant test.

Using a "B" card will reveal "B" or "G" routers since the use the same brand, and "G" is backwards compatible with "B"

"A" devices on the otherhand are not compatible with "B" or "G" in any way. To find "A" access points, you will need an "A" card.

802.11b & 802.11g uses the same frequencies and the same way of announcing its presence to the world.
Setting a router/AP to 802.11g only, does not hide it from 802.11b cards. It just prevents 802.11b clients from associating to them.
