I've been reading around here about hooking up GPS receivers and had a few questions. I'm looking for the cheapest receiver that will do the trick and this one seems to be it.
Rikaline USB GPS (eBay) I've read that there are issues with NetStumbler in that you need to hook up through a com port. My laptop only has USB so I see a possible issue here. I did read somewhere about a "COM Port Emulator." How hard is it to set up the receiver this way with NetStumbler and does anyone have any experience with this receiever and NetStumbler? Thanks in advance! |

Usb Gps
The GPS will come with a driver disk that will set up a com port. The USB GPS use a PL-2303 driver from Prolific Technology Inc. I had to search to find the driver for my BU-303 GPS.
I run the BU-303 GPS, comfoolery, lantronix redirector, streets and trips and network stumbler. Search the files here on how to set it up. Works good last long time. |
