Shoud be able to use the serial cable used to sync to connect a gps, that's how I do it with iPaqs. As far as using two cf cards, I don't think it's possible.

You can try a running a serial GPS, check out the qpeGPS project for more info. FWIW, the Target store in my area is clearing out Garmin GPSs, they had the cheapo Gecko for ~$56. I don't know much about that model though.
